HELPING YOU TALK TO YOUR CHILD ABOUT BAPTISM
The Bible teaches that we are saved by grace through faith. One way we can outwardly express our faith is through baptism. Baptism is a public confession of putting one’s trust and hope in Jesus, and it’s for everyone who has put his or her faith in Christ. At Journey, we believe baptism is an outward expression of that internal transformation and it’s one of the first steps we take when we start following Jesus.
Having conversations with your child about following Jesus and deciding when to get baptized is a big step for both of you. It is an exciting time when a child chooses to follow Jesus and be baptized. It is one of the most signifiant milestones in their entire life! And we are thrilled to partner with you and come alongside your family to take those next steps when your child is ready.
So, how do you know when they are ready? Good question! We’ve collected some resources to help equip you for those conversations. These resources include a couple of videos of what baptism means and a Baptism 101 booklet for you to do together. While viewing these resources, jot down any questions that arise between you and your child. We can work through them together as we continue the conversation and help your child take their next step toward Jesus!
Following Jesus is a big step and it’s the start of the best adventure! Our prayer is that you have fun learning about Jesus together and make faith a part of your everyday conversations at home.
