TEAMS AT JOURNEY

Find the right Serving Team for you.

Teams at Journey

We love the word "team" here at Journey. Teams are a great way for you to take your next step toward Jesus even while you're helping other people take their next step. It means belonging to a group of people who cares for each other while they're caring for the needs of others. We're striving to make teams a big deal around here, and we think you're just the right person to help us make that happen!

Finding the right team that matches your skills and passion is important to us, and below you can find links to all of our teams here at Journey. We pray because prayer we believe prayer really matters.

9) JOURNEY KIDS (JK) TEAM

What we do:

We work hard to provide safe and engaging environments for kids to take next steps toward Jesus at Journey! It’s as simple as being God’s loving arms as you hold a baby, singing ‘Jesus Loves Me’ to a toddler, telling a preschooler that God created them, or speaking simple truths from God’s Word to a school-aged child. It all boils down to showing Jesus to our kids through your words and actions. God takes it from there!

What to Expect/Time Involved:

We offer a variety of serving options at both the 9:30 and 11:00 services. Find your spot on our team!

  • Check-in greeters
  • Infants thru Preschool
  • Elementary worship/large group leader
  • Elementary small group leader/assistant
  • ‘In-a-pinch’ Subs
  • Family Events (Parents’ Night Out, Holidays, etc)

With infants thru preschool, you can serve once a month, twice a month, or be on for a full month then off a month. With our elementary kids, consistency is key as a small group leader so we ask for on a month/off a month or serve throughout the school year and have the summer months off. We ask for all volunteers to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the service time to be ready to greet our families as they arrive.

Intro Process:

Let’s chat! Once we receive your interest in serving in Journey Kids, we will contact you to talk through the best fit for you as well as all things under the sun you could even need to know about Journey Kids.

10) WORSHIP TEAM

What We Do:

At Journey Church our mission is to help people take their next step toward Jesus. The Worship Team comes alongside this vision by realizing that because we are created in the image of God, the most creative force in the universe, we are endowed with the creativity of our Creator. This creativity is specifically used through music to point people towards Jesus every weekend in our weekly gatherings.

What To Expect/Time Involved:

When it comes to time involved being a part of the Worship Team there are 3 things to keep in mind: personal practice time, weeknight rehearsal, and Sunday Morning gatherings. As a part of Journey Creative we believe we are called to strive for excellence. With this being said, we are constantly striving to better our craft to ultimately glorify God to the best of our ability. As a team we are always looking for ways to be just 1% better than before.

As a part of our team the expectation is for you to come prepared to our weeknight rehearsal [typically Thursdays 7.30p-8.30p] in order to ready ourselves for our Sunday morning gatherings at 9.30a and 11.00a. In addition, to our weeknight rehearsal we have a full production runthrough every Sunday morning at 8a, which all schedules volunteers are required to attend.

Intro Process:

To fully engage on the Worship Team have divided our intro process into a 4-part onboarding process…

1 - INTRO - the goal is that every person on the worship team carries the culture of Journey Creative and the character of Christ. The intro is a quick step to allow you to know who Journey Creative is before divining in.

2 - CONNECT - As a team, we want you to know us and we want to get to know you. This step will be a quick conversation over coffee, lunch or even a phone call with a member of our team.

3 - EVAL - In order to better understand your skill set and experience level we will schedule a brief evaluation for you to play / sing through a couple of songs we are regularly playing.

NOTE: This is not a high stress audition, however there is a high standard for all creatives. If your skill level or interest is not quite there we will connect you with resources to get there.

4 - ADVANCE - Simply put this is the final step where we discuss how we are going to move forward [advance]. In most cases, this is discussing your availability to find the best process to set you up to serve to your fullest potential.

11) PRODUCTION TEAM

What We Do:

We are people who love to use media and technology to enhance our worship experience at Journey! If you enjoy visual effects like graphics or appreciate a clear audio mix…. This is the place for you!

What To Expect/Time Involved:

We have two roles on our team : ProPresenter [everything that goes to the screen] and Audio. Team members are asked to attend our preservice production run through on Sundays at 8a and during our 9.30a and 11a services. In addition, Audio team members are encouraged to be present at our weeknight rehearsal [typically Thursday at 7.30p-8.30p].

Intro Process:

ProPresenter does not require much more than general computer skills. Our team will provide you with specific training in the software / hardware to set you up for success. In most cases, we ask for onboarding team members to shadow and existing team member for one weekend gathering, to help you become familiar with our production process.

Running audio requires a bit more skill and experience and may require a longer training/shadowing period. This is a difficult skill to acquire unless a lot of time is invested. Previous experience is required for our weekend gatherings. We still provide training and apprenticing for this position, and are willing to work with you if this is a genuine passion you would like to pursue.

Once new team members become proficient in production, we will discuss your availability and figure out a monthly serve rotation that works best for you and the team.

12) EVENT TEAM

What we do:

Simply put - we help events happen all around Journey Church . Our team will help plan and execute upcoming events. Our role is to help care for the decor, supplies, and logistics that our events need in order to be a success.

What to expect / Time Involved:

Time commitment will be varied based on Journey’s schedule of events, but our team will be involved in the planning, preparation, and execution of various events throughout the year. When an event is upcoming, you'll be notified and can jump in dependent on your availability.

Intro Process:

We will get in contact with you, answer any questions and provide the information you need to get started.

13) ONLINE HOST TEAM

What we do:

We are people who have chosen to participate with Journey through our Online community. We know how impersonal online can feel because of the distance between us, but want to find ways to provide personal contact and care for anyone watching. We serve as Online Hosts who welcome, answer any questions, add to the online discussion and pray with anyone who needs prayer.

What to expect / Time Involved:

Be online ready to go 15 minutes before the service begins and remain 5-10 minutes after it concludes. Scheduling is flexible so we will work with whatever time you have available.

Intro Process:

We will offer training and help you understand what you can expect. We will also provide resources so you will understand what we are trying to accomplish and answer any question that might come your way. When you are ready, you can shadow another host to see behind the scenes what goes on and you will be ready to jump in.

14) COMMUNITY GROUP LEADER TEAM
